Petals by Amy Lowell
Life is a stream
On which we strew
Petal by petal the flower of our heart;
The end lost in dream,
They float past our view,
We only watch their glad, early start.
Freighted with hope,
Crimsoned with joy,
We scatter the leaves of our opening rose;
Their widening scope,
Their distant employ,
We never shall know. And the stream as it flows
Sweeps them away,
Each one is gone
Ever beyond into infinite ways.
We alone stay
While years hurry on,
The flower fared forth, though its fragrance still stays.
Happy Freedom Friday
Yep, you read it right….rice that’s only cauliflower. Perfect for people that can’t eat gluten or are trying to avoid carbs. Now…don’t go in expecting for it to have the same rice texture, but it really is pretty darn yummy! I enjoy it and it’s also filling.
SO, take a head of cauliflower. Cut off the ends just like you would if you’re going to cook it normally. Go ahead and place it in a food processor, not all of it because you want to have room for the cauliflower to get pulverized. Also, try not to pulverize until it’s too blended or cream-ish.
Take some of your “rice” and place in a pan that already has oil that’s heated. Cook on low for a little bit and stir occasionally. I think putting a lid over it helps get a different texture, but I’ve cooked with and without you’ll just have to try whichever you prefer. I add a little salt and pepper when I cook it. I do think it’d be good with some spice, maybe paprika or touch of cayenne to bring a little heat but I usually feed it to the kiddos as well so I haven’t yet. Someone give it a shot and let me know! Or any other version….
There’s. Recipe for cauliflower tortillas (like mini corn tortillas) I’ll let you know!
Enjoy your Tuesday and be kind! 🙂
As my grandfather was a soldier, brothers and some friends I often wonder how they must feel today. Do they relive it? Do they feel honored and proud or do they just try to forget it all?
I personally have so much respect for these men and women I could cry at the drop of a hat. Not just because of what they do for our country, what they sacrifice for a NOTHING amount of money, but what they experience and endure that civilians will never comprehend.
I wonder how they feel, now that our media is more advanced and invasive. Do they feel honored that we get to see what happened. Me personally? I would feel pissed off. People, practically strangers getting a piece of what happened, commenting, reposting, sharing on how the interpret it but have NO CLUE what it took to survive or to even make it happen. Because I know just from life experience that people may feel something but they aren’t capable of true compassion or understanding until they go through it themselves. Of course, when they expeirence it themselves it’s a whole new ball game.
Take today this weekend not for the BBQ’s or having a reason to get drunk but for what it is. These people put their lives in harms way everyday and even though it may be their choice they do more than what most are capable of just when their coffee isn’t the way they want it. Before you want to comment or share a picture of these heroes, think about what you’re doing and what you are representing. I am never more embarrassed or ashamed than when someone makes a dumbass comment or tries to pretend that they may have a clue what these people go through.
My own personal sincere thank you to all of you brave heroes. Thank you for having the courage to live the day, thank you for trying to be better than average, and thank you for the sacrifices. To my own grandfather, brother and friends….thank you.
And….if there are old veterans out there or soldiers now….Do you like your pictures shown? Honored or annoyed? Just curious.
“A good laugh is sunshine in the house.” William M. Thackeray
“A good laugh and a long sleep are the best cures in the doctor’s book.” Irish Proverb
“Life, love, and laughter – what priceless gifts to give our children.” Phyllis Dryden
“Joyfulness keeps the heart and face young. A good laugh makes us better friends with ourselves and everybody around us.” Orison Swett Marden
Laughter….My favorite friendships are the ones that we laugh and keep laughing because we are laughing at each other laugh. The ones where your sides hurt, water escapes out of your nose and bursts out of your mouth if you’re taking a drink.
Laughing at my daughter who walks into an unknown bathroom, tilts her head back while spinning around and tells me…”This bathroom is amaaaazing!” Or says things like, “That’s the biggest bite if I ever saw.”
The friendships where I can just tilt my head back and let my monstrous laugh out and it just doesn’t matter. I have found myself in times where I didn’t laugh enough and when that becomes my story I start wondering why? I tend to be SO SERIOUS, sometimes even when I am laughing, but I tend to forget to just laugh…the kind where it takes over your body.
I love laughter and as much as it’s taken for granted, I cherish it. It’s a gift…and just like in the quote above a priceless gift we give to our children and our loved ones or really anyone passing by. How often have you heard friends or a couple laughing and it puts a smile on your face? It really is contagious.
I think so often we try not to laugh. I’m TERRIBLE at laughing at someone if they’re being so serious and have a funny expression on their face, or I use to laugh when I got in trouble. I find so many things soooo funny, even people and what they think is so important. There are too many situations that I have to laugh at myself, for thinking something completely different, embarrassing myself….and I also think we should laugh at ourselves or sometimes our situations more.
Laugh today…call the friends you can laugh with and enjoy the Wednesday.
YUUUMMM….one of my craves, the two sandwiches I want all the time. Almond butter and tomato sandwiches and almond butter and olive sandwiches. YUM.
NOW, before you snarl your face, or say “gross”. Give these a try…use peanut butter if you prefer. Okay, I will admit that I created the Almond butter and olive sandwich when I was pregnant (and huge) with my first, but it has stuck…I want it just as much now.
I prefer to eat this on either homemade bread or wheat bread. If you go the tomato route…FRESH is the best I think with a splash of salt…unless you use salty peanut butter. Give it a shot…it’s easy and nutritious not to mention de-licious. Have a little trust this Tasty Tuesday and give it a whirl!
Enjoy and Be kind! 🙂
Something to share. Talk about realizing how important your phone means to you. Couldn’t blog or do anything because my phone went a little nutsy. I’m not going to say I was about to lose it, but it did bother me that I couldn’t do anything. This is just something I thought I’d share, I hope you all have a good Monday and whatever you’ve kept within….
Unleash what’s held within
She’d thought but didn’t now someone else could see the glow, with his magic eye and flashing light he could see what rested inside.
What’s been buried long ago and made secret so no one would know, the self she tries to hide was caught by surprise. A part held so dear trying to let go without fear. Come out come out wherever you are. Could the disguise be gone? Or is she tired of being hidden for so long?
Unleash what’s held within
Maybe a little at a time she’ll come out of hiding and shine, but with the flash that met her eyes and awoke her deep within, she’ll never be the same again. She wonders does he know what she awoke in him? Yes, let the unleashing begin.
Unleash what’s held within
